The Role

We are looking for a highly skilled and experienced Company Accountant to join our team. This is a key role within our organisation, ensuring the financial health of the business and supporting strategic decision-making.

Key Responsibilities

• Prepare year-end accounts to audit standard and quarterly management accounts.
• Manage cash flow and ensure monthly account reconciliations.
• Oversee financial records, ensuring accuracy and compliance.
• Support the year-end audit, liaising with external auditors to ensure timely reporting.
• Ensure monthly cost reports are issued to Surveyors.
• Organise and produce monthly CVR reports, working alongside Surveyors and Project Managers.
• Analyse CVR reports, budgets, and forecasts to support financial planning.
• Handle HMRC enquiries beyond the current team's scope.
• Ensure compliance with all statutory accounting deadlines (VAT returns, CIS returns, payroll, year-end financial accounts).
• Maintain compliance with PAYE, SC Tax, VAT, and Corporation Tax.
• Manage R&D tax claims and HMRC investigations.
• Attend monthly management meetings, taking and distributing minutes.
• Assist in insurance and bond management for the company.
• Provide financial guidance and reports to company directors.
• Oversee the entire accounting function, evaluating and improving processes where necessary.
• Handle any other financial matters as required.

Skills & Experience

✅ CIMA or ACCA qualification (or equivalent).

✅ Minimum of 5 years’ experience as a Financial Accountant, preferably in the construction industry.

✅ Strong knowledge of Accounting Standards and financial controls.

✅ Proficient in Excel and Word.

✅ Excellent attention to detail and organisational skills.

✅ Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
