We are seeking a highly experienced and strategic leader to join us as our Head of Health & Safety at Torsion. This pivotal role is essential to fostering a culture where safety is at the core of everything we do.
About the Role
As the Head of Health & Safety, you will lead our dedicated safety team, ensuring compliance with all legal and industry standards.
You will drive the implementation of updated safety systems, promote continuous improvement, and collaborate with key stakeholders across the organisation to embed a safety-first culture.
Key Responsibilities include;
- Strategic Leadership: Develop and implement a company-wide health and safety strategy aligned with organisational goals.
- Collaboration and Communication; Lead the team to ensure close working relationships with business leaders, project managers, operational teams and other stakeholders.
- Performance Metrics: Establish and monitor key performance indicators (KPIs) to assess the effectiveness of health and safety initiatives.
- Data-Driven Improvement: Analyse incident reports and near-miss data to identify trends, offering strategic direction to address areas for improvement.
- Regulatory Compliance: Stay ahead of evolving legislation and best practices in construction safety to ensure compliance and innovation.
- Training & Development: Oversee the creation and delivery of robust health and safety training programs.

What we are looking for:
Degree Qualified: Bachelor’s degree in Occupational Health and Safety, Environmental Science, Engineering, or a related field; a Master’s degree is an advantage.
Industry Experience: Proven track record in developing and implementing health & safety programmes or in a similar role with relevant certifications (NEBOSH, IOSH, or similar).
Organised: You’ll need to bring superb organisation skills, including time management, prioritisation of tasks and self-motivation.
An excellent communicator: Bring your excellent verbal and written communication skills as you’ll be working with diverse groups of people.
A team player: You’ll bring exceptional leadership, communication, and interpersonal skills. You’ll need to be a collaborative individual with a positive approach, actively promoting and supporting Equality, Diversity and Inclusion within the workplace and with our external stakeholders.
Detail Oriented: You’ll need to have a keen eye for detail and a passion for quality. You’ll bring strong analytical and problem-solving abilities.
